On April 10, 2025 we gathered in community to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Maria Lynn, a beloved professor, mentor, and friend, at a beautiful memorial bench unveiling on NJCU’s campus. With newly planted cherry blossoms blooming in the background and stories of Maria’s incredible impact shared through tearful smiles, the warmth of her memory was palpable, even on a chilly spring day.

Dr. Lynn (1960–2023), who preferred to go by "Maria" to all, was the epitome of kindness and compassion for everyone who crossed her path. She offered sweets and an intense interest in the struggles of each person's everyday life, whether a top-level administrator or a struggling first-year student. Maria joined the NJCU community in Fall 2002. She was a beloved professor and administrator who dedicated over 20 years of service to NJCU.

We raised over $10,000  for the establishment of the Dr. Maria Lynn Memorial Bench to memorialize her presence on campus, but our mission is not over! Now, with hearts full and a vision for the future, we invite you to join us in the next step: Establishing the Dr. Maria Lynn Endowed Scholarship. 

Our goal is to raise an additional $18,800 to create a permanent scholarship in Maria’s name, one that will support NJCU students for many years to come, especially those in the Psychology program she dedicated her life to.

With your help, we can make this happen. This will ensure that her legacy lives on forever and that her presence is not only seen, but felt.
